How to Extend The Life of Your Vehicle

Vehicles are a very important part of everyday life in America but that does not take away from the fact that they are not cheep. A used car that you can depend on is going to cost you at least $5,000.00 and not many people have that much in their back pocket. If you have a can now it is in your best interest to take care of it so it will last longer. There are a few simple things you can do to extend the life of your car and be sure it is dependable for the long haul. I will give you a few suggestions on how to extend the life of your vehicle.

  1. The first thing you need to do is routine maintenance. There are a few things that fall into routine maintenance. The first thing is change the motor oil. This is something that should be done every couple thousand miles. If you run the vehicle with the same oil for to long the oil will lose its viscosity and no longer work the way it is meant to work. The second thing is change the air filter. The motor needs to intake air and if the filter is clogged up it cannot intake freely. If a car cannot intake air correctly it starts to work inefficiently and has difficulty controlling the fuel and air mixture. The third thing is inflating the tires. This is something that can not only extend the life of your vehicle but also save you money on gas. If the tires are not inflated correctly this can take a toll on the suspension system and any type of suspension problems can be very costly.

  2. The second thing you should do is keep your engine working properly and in tune. The engine of your vehicle is a precision piece of equipment and if it is not running perfectly it starts to cause damage to the inner parts of the engine. Also it can start to run inefficiently and cause damage to your exhaust system. The spark plugs and destitution system should always be working correctly. If this is not working correctly you can cause damage to the electrical components of your vehicle. Any of these things can reduce the life of your vehicle by many thousands of miles. Keep in mind if you do not take care of these things as soon as they appear they will cost you much more in the long run.

  3. The third thing you should do is use your garage or carport for your car. Many times we use our vehicle storage areas for other things and leave out vehicles out in the sun, rain, or snow. This takes a big toll on the vehicle. They are made to withstand the elements but if you can keep it from the elements from time to time it will withstand much longer. The sun can cause the paint to lose its luster, and the snow can accelerate corrosion. Use the garage and car port for your vehicles.
